You moved into a house with an existing home security system
Sometimes when people purchase a house, a home security system is already established. All the components work, are hung in the right places, and are ready to go. In this case, you might find that you have to call and establish a new service contract. A Vivint expert will still come to your home to ensure there are no usability issues, and they could offer options on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a fast trip, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without paying for any new components -- unless you add on.
The old owners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time transfer fee to make your life easier. If the owners are moving to an apartment complex or retirement community, transferring the Vivint contract may be a condition of the sale.
You want to move and take your old equipment with you
You may need to bring along your favorite Vivint system with you to your new house when you move. That’s pretty easy to transfer, as most alarms and smart devices are portable. You can uninstall each device by yourself or use a professional expert to come and take care of the system. Then an expert will set up the same devices -- and any additions you need to make -- in your new house. Your home security contract will stay the same.
